According to the report of the British news agency Reuters, similar camps have been established in universities in other Australian cities including Melbourne, Canberra. While police have attempted to forcibly remove pro-Palestinian protesters from US campuses, no such incident has occurred in Australia.

A small number of police had a peaceful presence at the protest sites. Although several police cars were parked at the entrance to the University of Sydney, no police were present at the protest.

Meanwhile, Jewish students studying at universities said they felt unsafe because of the protests. According to them such movement should be done outside the university campus.

University of Sydney vice-chancellor Mark Scott said anti-Israel protesters could occupy campuses in part because student protests in the United States had not seen violence.
