A 24-year-old woman was seriously injured during a concert by the punk band Trophy Eyes in New York. The singer decided to stage dive and injured the woman.

Bird Piche (24) went to Buffalo’s Mohawk Place in New York on Thursday evening, where the Australian punk band Trophy Eyes would perform. Things went wrong during the opening number of the concert when frontman John Floreani jumped into the audience against the guidelines of the hall, according to eyewitnesses on social media. “A girl in the middle of the audience was seriously injured when the singer started stage diving,” several people wrote.

The concert was immediately stopped as soon as it became clear how bad condition Bird was. An ambulance immediately took her to the nearest hospital, where a “catastrophic back injury” was diagnosed. According to a family member, she has now undergone surgery and is expected to have a “very long recovery”.

The band stated in a statement that it deeply regrets what happened that evening. “This incident has shaken us to our core, and we ask for patience as we determine how best to help Bird through this difficult time. Please keep Bird in your thoughts. We remain in close contact with her family and will keep you informed.”

A Gofundme page was set up for the victim to raise money for her recovery. Trophy Eyes already deposited $5,000 there. More than $40,000 has already been raised.
