They prosecute a nanny involved in the death of a baby in Mixco

The Pluripersonal Court of First Instance for Children and Adolescents and Adolescents in Conflict with the Criminal Law of the municipality of Mixco, Guatemala, resolved this Thursday, March 14 connect to criminal proceedings for the crime of murder to a minor who worked as babysitter.

The accused is 17 years old and was in charge of caring for the baby, identified as Samara Nicol, aged one year and two months, who was found dead inside a home in zone 10 of Mixco at the end of February.

Death of the baby in Mixco

On February 21, the Office of Municipal Protection of Children and Adolescents of Mixco (OMPNA) reported that it received a report about the situation that occurred with a minor in a home located in the Valles de San Jacinto neighborhood, San José La Community, zone 10 of that town, for which the presence of lifeguards at the site was coordinated.

The preliminary report details that he died due to possible asphyxiation, taking into account that he had visible marks in the neck region.

The aforementioned entity detailed that she was allegedly attacked by unknown people, according to the testimony of the girl’s parents, Enrique Barrera and Noemi Gómez, who identified her.

A day later, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) confirmed the cause of death, noting that the analyzes showed that the victim had asphyxiation due to suffocation.
