A baby is found dead inside a home in Mixco

A one year old baby and two months old was found dead this Wednesday, February 21 inside her home in the Valles de San Jacinto neighborhood, San José La Comunidad, zone 10 of the municipality of MixcoGuatemala.

Mario Upúm, spokesperson for the Departmental Municipal Firefighters, announced that the minor showed signs of violence and, upon confirming her death, the presence of personnel from the National Civil Police and the Public Ministry was coordinated at the scene.

Conditions in which the baby was found

The Municipal Protection Office for Children and Adolescents of Mixco (OMPNA) reported that it received a report about the situation that occurred with the minor, for which the presence of first responders was coordinated at the property where she was located.

The firefighters arrived at the scene; However, they were unable to do anything for the little victim, who showed obvious signs of physical aggression.

The preliminary report details that he died due to possible asphyxiation, taking into account that he had visible marks in the neck region.

The aforementioned entity detailed that she was allegedly attacked by unknown people, according to the testimony of the girl’s parents, Enrique Barrera and Noemi Gómez, who identified her.

The PNC agents were in charge of the proceedings and waiting for the Public Ministry (MP) to appear. The area where the little girl was found was closed to protect any possible evidence that may be found and that will serve to advance the investigations.

They capture a person involved in the case of abuse against a child in Mixco

Last week, security forces captured a woman involved in a case of abuse against a child that occurred in Ciudad San Cristóbal, zone 8 of the municipality of Mixco, Guatemala. This followed a video that was broadcast on social networks showing the situation that the three-year-old child was facing.

The MP reported that, through the Prosecutor’s Office for Children and Adolescents, the arrest of Domenica Marleny Sánchez Palma was coordinated, to whom the crime of abuse against minors is attributed.

“The investigation carried out by the prosecutor’s office determined that the actions were committed by the accused, who was taking care of the child in the absence of the parents,” detailed the Information and Press department of the investigating entity.
