They share the details of the Virgen del Desierto 5K race, highlighting the 2-kilometer uphill test on Cerro de Dolores (SPECIAL)
An attractive challenge will come to La Laguna athletes next Sunday, May 5, when the VI edition of the Virgen del Desierto 5K Athletic Race will be held, which on this occasion will be complemented with a 2-kilometer uphill test on Cerro of Dolores, where the majestic sculpture that gives its name to this sporting event is located.
IN COMMEMORATION
It was yesterday, at a press conference, where the details of this competition were presented, a meeting that was led by Sarahí Jiménez and Chantal Valdez, representatives of the Gilio Foundation, in addition to Luis Felipe del Rivero, on behalf of Canaco Servitur de Gómez Palacio and Alfredo Alemán, from the Carreras MX promotion company. “The Virgin of the Desert was founded on May 8, 2019 and therefore, since last year we modified the race to hold it close to that date, this time on May 5, in reference to the anniversary of the sculpture of the Virgin , located in Cerro de Dolores, Torreña highway in San Ignacio. It is a place that we want to spread and for people to go,” reported the representatives of the Gilio Foundation.
The race will start at 8:00 a.m. in the Virgen del Desierto parking lot and the FINISH will be located on the esplanade of the sculpture, with a dirt road route, the last 700 meters of which will be ascent.
The categories will participate: Youth, up to 19 years old; Free, from 20 to 29 years old; Sub Master, from 30 to 39 years old; Master, from 40 to 49 years old; Veterans, 50 to 59; Veterans Plus, 60 to 69 and Golden, 70 years and older. Cash awards will be given to the first 3 places in each category.
