The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the Energy Council with the participation of the Ministry of Energy, the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund and a number of specialized national companies, Liter.kz reports.

As reported by the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the council reviewed the progress of implementation of the agreements reached by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in February of this year.

Chairman of the Board of NK QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov reported on the progress of implementation of joint gas projects. The Qatari UCC Holding will cooperate with the construction of two gas processing plants with a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters. m and 2.5 billion cubic meters. m per year, the new compressor station KS-14 and the main gas pipeline KS-14 – Kostanay – Aktobe, as well as the second line of the main gas pipeline Beineu – Bozoy – Shymkent.

The construction of the gas processing plant is aimed at the rational use of raw gas by increasing processing capacity. The construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline will ensure the energy security of Kazakhstan, thanks to gas supply to the southern, central and northern regions, as well as maintaining export volumes.

The commissioning of a new compressor station and the main gas pipeline Aktobe – Kostanay will provide gas to the population of the Kostanay region and industrial enterprises of the region.

The meeting participants approved the basic terms of the deal. It is noted that QazaqGaz and UCC Holding have generally reached a consensus on all four major projects. Their joint implementation will begin in the near future.

The Prime Minister instructed to make maximum use of the internal competencies of the QazaqGaz national company group and the products of domestic manufacturers when implementing projects. In addition, the Ministry of Energy has been given instructions to further increase the profitability of the gas industry.

According to the Ministry of Energy and QazaqGaz, gas production in Kazakhstan is expected to increase to 60.456 billion cubic meters in 2024. m. More than 85% of production is provided by the Tengiz (27%), Karachaganak (38%) and Kashagan (20%) projects. The pace of development of the gas industry is confirmed by the fact that gas production in the country has been steadily growing in recent years.

Commercial gas production in 2024 is planned in the amount of 28.054 billion cubic meters. m. According to the forecast balance, current domestic consumption in 2024 is 20.9 billion cubic meters. m.
