Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan Papon said that the list will be made after looking at the performance of the federations and the federations which have good results will be given importance.
The minister said this while interacting with five sports federations on Tuesday. He spoke to the officials of chess, kabaddi, gymnastics, handball and badminton federations on Tuesday as part of a series of discussions with the federations.
At this time, the minister called for increasing sports practice among students in all educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities of the country and said, ‘Almost all educational institutions of the country have sports fields. In our time there was regular sports practice. If we talk about chess or athletics, this sport has the most opportunity to practice or develop at the school level.’
‘Those who did well from here, they would later get the opportunity to play at the national level beyond the district, division. But nowadays the practice of sports among the students has decreased. Due to this, good players are not emerging at the national level. Educational institutions should create opportunities for students to practice more sports in addition to their studies.
Mentioning that he will discuss with the Prime Minister on how to develop sports, the sports minister said, ‘The federation that achieves good results will be given special importance. We will create a priority list based on performance and potential. Then we will define a specific plan and target and also discuss with the Prime Minister.’
The sports minister said that he will also hold meetings with various corporate organizations regarding the acquisition and increase of sponsors to promote sports. Nazmul Hasan Papon also said that he will try to know the actual situation by visiting various sports federations.
