“With the electric Macan our aim is to offer the sportiest car in its segment,” says Jörg Kerner, vice president of the Macan range. Porsche uses exclusively the latest generation permanent magnet (PSM) electric motors on the front and rear axles. Thanks to this it achieves excellent efficiency and allows performances to be continuously repeated in an optimal way. The numbers alone indicate top-notch performance: in combination with Launch Control, the Macan 4 generates up to 408 hp (300 kW) of power in drive mode. overboost, while the Macan Turbo reaches up to 639 hp (470 kW). The maximum torque is 650 and 1,130 Nm respectively, which guarantee magnificent performance. The Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes just 3.3 seconds. The two versions reach a maximum speed of 220 and 260 km/h respectively.
New Premium Electric Platform (PPE) with 800 volt architecture
The electric motors draw their energy from a lithium-ion battery located in the underbody, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, of which up to 95 kWh can be actively used. The high-voltage (HV) battery is a central component of the Premium Electric Platform (PPE) with newly developed 800-volt architecture, which Porsche is using for the first time in the Macan. The charging power with direct current (DC) is up to 270 kW. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes at a dedicated fast charging station. At 400-volt stations, a high-voltage switch allows for sectional charging by splitting the 800-volt battery into two, each rated at 400 volts. This makes charging up to 135 kW particularly efficient, without the need for an additional high-voltage transformer. Home charging with alternating current (AC) can reach 11 kW.
Electric motors can recover up to 240 kW of energy while driving. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) system also contributes to the efficiency of the new Macan models, saving weight and space. The innovative and compact IPB combines three components: the installed AC charger, the high-voltage heater and the DC/DC transformer. The combined WLTP range can reach 613 kilometers in the Macan 4 and 591 km in the Macan Turbo.
Sporty proportions and coupé lines
Thanks to slimmer proportions and Porsche Design DNA, the new Macan appears dynamic and full of character. “With the Macan we present the first electric Porsche based on an established product identity,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President of Style Porsche. “Thanks to the brand identity, the new model is clearly recognizable as part of the family. The classic Porsche proportions have been optimally developed and adapted to the challenges posed by an electric vehicle. This further underlines the sporty, modern and dynamic appearance of the Macan. The design says it clearly: the Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in the electric version.”

The gentle slope of the bonnet and the very pronounced fins give this SUV an athletic appearance, even when stationary. It measures 4,784 mm in length, 1,938 mm in width and 1,622 mm in height. The new Macan features wheels up to 22 inches, with tires of different widths on each axle. The wheelbase, 86 mm longer than the previous model (2,893 mm), is compensated by short overhangs at the front and rear. The headlights are divided into two parts: the flat upper unit with four-point daytime running lights is integrated into the fenders and accentuates the width of the car; The main headlight module, optionally featuring Matrix LED technology, is positioned slightly lower at the front. The feature flight line The Porsche forms a single whole with the flat rear window. In combination with the frameless windows and side fins, the result is an elegant and sporty design. The strongly pronounced shoulders give the back a muscular appearance. The Porsche logo is now positioned in the center of the 3D sculptural light band.
Active and passive aerodynamics for greater autonomy
Porsche combines its design DNA with optimized aerodynamics to improve range. Thanks to the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system, with active and passive elements, and a drag coefficient of 0.25, the new Macan is one of the most aerodynamic SUVs on the market, with positive effects on range and fuel consumption. The PAA system includes the spoilers adaptive rear, active cooling fins on the front air intakes and flexible covers on the fully sealed underbody. The deflectors located under the headlight module and the low front optimize the air flow. At the rear, the side edges and the diffuser blades guarantee aerodynamic efficiency.
Two trunks and more interior space
The new Macan is a performance-oriented SUV, with great versatility for everyday use, high-quality equipment and a spacious configuration. Electrification made it possible to increase the trunk of the Macan. Depending on the version and installed equipment, the capacity behind the rear seat is up to 540 liters (loading mode). Furthermore there is the frunk, a second trunk under the hood, with a capacity of 84 liters. This is 127 liters more than the previous model. If the rear seat backrest is folded down completely, the rear load compartment volume increases to 1,348 litres. The maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kilograms adds to the practical qualities of the new Macan.
Depending on the version and equipment, the driver and front passenger sit up to 28 mm lower than before, while the rear passengers sit 15 mm lower and have more legroom. The interior is unmistakably Porsche: the width of the cabin is accentuated by an integrated black panel. The rising design of the center console increases the impression of the vehicle’s low, performance-focused stance. At the same time, the large windows provide a feeling of light and spaciousness to the occupants. In addition to modern digital user interfaces, there are also some analogue control elements, for example on the ventilation vents and climate controls. An LED light strip is integrated into the interior trim and doors. It works as ambient lighting and communication light. Depending on the situation, it provides information or warnings, for example to greet during charging processes or in combination with driver assistance systems. The equipment of the new Macan allows for a high degree of customisation.

Porsche has also proposed using more environmentally friendly materials in its cars. Some of them are present in selected elements of the cabin of the electric Macan.
Driving Experience: Great computing power and connectivity
The Macan features a latest-generation display and operating concept with up to three displays, including the independent 12.6-inch instrument cluster with curved design and the 10.9-inch central display. As a novelty, the front passenger, with his Screen optional 10.9-inch screen, you can view information, adjust infotainment system settings or play video content while driving. For the first time the Porsche Driver Experience system also includes a head-up view with augmented reality technology. Virtual elements such as navigation arrows visually integrate seamlessly into the real world. The image appears in front of the driver at a distance of 10 meters and is equivalent to that of an 87-inch screen.
The new generation infotainment system is based on the Android Automotive operating system. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, which comes as standard in the new Macan, takes computing performance to a new level. For example, the “Hey Porsche” voice assistant suggests routes very quickly, including charging stops. In the new Porsche App Center, passengers can directly access the most popular applications from third-party providers and install them directly on the new Macan.
First Macan with rear-axle steering and two-valve shock absorbers
Porsche developed the Macan with a focus on the brand’s signature dynamics and unmistakable driving sensation. “Thanks to its particularly sporty seating position and low center of gravity as well as impressive dynamics and steering precision, the new Macan conveys a true sports car feeling,” explains range vice president Jörg Kerner.
Both the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo come with all-wheel drive. The two electric motors are controlled almost in real time via the power electronics. The electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system works around five times faster than a conventional all-wheel drive and can react to slip within 10 milliseconds. Furthermore, the distribution of all-wheel drive is regulated by the selected driving program. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), an electronically controlled differential lock on the rear axle, also contributes to the traction, handling stability and lateral dynamics of the Macan Turbo.
Macan versions with air suspension, standard on the Turbo, are equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damping control. Optionally it can also be combined with steel spring suspensions. Furthermore, the PASM now features shock absorbers with two-valve technology. Thanks to the larger cushioning map, you get a greater margin between comfort and stability. This makes the differences between the programs even more tangible.
For the first time the Macan is equipped with optional rear-axle steering with a maximum steering angle of five degrees. It enables a tight turning circle of 11.1 meters in urban traffic and maneuvering, while offering exceptional stability at higher speeds, complemented by the responsive and precise front-axle steering for which the brand is known.
Since 2014, Porsche has sold more than 800,000 units of the Macan worldwide. The success story will continue with this 100% electric successor, produced carbon-neutral in Porsche’s Leipzig plant. The new models will be delivered to the first customers in the second half of the year. The final prices in Spain are:
- Macan 4: 85,382 euros
- Macan Turbo: 116,914 euros
