The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has presented to the military cabinet a plan to evacuate civilians from the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip and to destroy the battalions of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas there. The Jerusalem Post reports about this.

In addition, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the cabinet late on February 25 approved a plan to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip “in a way that prevents the kind of looting that has taken place in the north of the Gaza Strip and other areas.”

Earlier, during the CBS “Face the Nation” program, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the military operation in the city of Rafah on the border with Egypt is important to ensure victory against Hamas.

“Once we start the operation in Rafah, it will take weeks to complete the intensive phase of fighting. not months, but weeks,” Netanyahu said, noting that the Israel-Hamas war could end this spring.

According to Netanyahu, 4 battalions of Hamas are concentrated in Rafah, where 1.3 million displaced Palestinians are also located.

The Israeli Prime Minister also said that the ground operation in Rafah can be postponed if an agreement is reached with Hamas on the return of the Israeli hostages and a ceasefire.
