Switzerland plans to hold a conference on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict before the beginning of the summer of 2024.
“The idea is to organize a conference at the ministerial level by the summer, which can open the process leading to peace,” TASS quotes Swiss Foreign Minister Inazio Cassis from the briefing held at the UN headquarters.
According to the minister, the event is necessary to find a way that sooner or later can ensure the inclusion of Russia.
He noted that the hope of Russia’s participation in the Swiss conference is quite small.
Kassis said that he spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on that topic, who said that the door is always open for serious proposals.
At the same time, the Swiss Foreign Minister admitted that the dilemma is how much is acceptable for others, which Russia considers serious.
Inazio Cassis claims that Switzerland is trying to take a step towards settlement.
In his opinion, there is no movement in the issue of peace in Ukraine, which was shown by the meeting of the UN Security Council, in which he participated.
