Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who is visiting Bangladesh as a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), attended an event titled ‘Innovate Together for #ZeroDigital Divide’ and observed Bangladesh’s significant progress in digital transformation.

The program was organized at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday (March 18) under the initiative of Aspire-to-Innovate (A2I) with the support of the Department of Information and Communication Technology and UNDP.

According to a notification sent by UNDP, the program shed light on building a future Bangladesh free of digital discrimination in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the vision of ‘leaving no one behind’. On the occasion, the Crown Princess observed Bangladesh’s exemplary journey in bridging the digital divide through innovative initiatives like Digital Centre, National Helpline 333, e-commerce platform and freelancer support programme. These initiatives are empowering citizens across Bangladesh, especially youth and entrepreneurs—paving the way for inclusive growth and socio-economic development.

During her four-day visit to Bangladesh, the Crown Princess will review progress and ongoing challenges in SDG implementation with a focus on Bangladesh’s development journey as well as climate change, gender equality, environment-friendly and digital transformation and the role of the business sector. She will also monitor initiatives led by women and youth entrepreneurs to mitigate the effects of climate change in vulnerable areas implemented by the government and UNDP.
