Around 20,000 visitors to the contemporary art fair

Vienna (OTS) The spark has ignited again: After four multi-faceted days, the SPARK ART FAIR VIENNA in the MARX HALLE in Vienna once again caused enthusiasm among visitors, collectors, exhibitors and specialist audiences from all over Europe at its third edition. Around 20,000 people visited the contemporary art fair over the four days of the fair from March 14th to 17th. The curator board’s goal of making SPARK even more international and even more diverse with a selected mix of emerging and established artists was positively received by both galleries and interested parties.

“Our approach to making the SPARK ART FAIR a holistically curated trade fair has paid off in the form of high quality and highly satisfied exhibitors and visitors. We are the only European fair that only shows solo presentations, giving artists the opportunity to show their works as a solo exhibition as part of a large show. This enhances their work and enables visitors to engage more intensively with the individual positions,” explain the fair’s artistic directors, Jan Gustav Fiedler and Walter Seidl. Together they lead the Curatorial & Advisory Board, which also includes Marina Fokidis and Christoph Doswald.

This year’s motto “The City in Dialogue” has brought into focus Vienna’s importance as a place of art production and as an artistic hub to other cities around the world. The more than 90 exhibitors came from Europe, Africa, North and South America and from a total of 20 countries: from Austria and neighboring countries to Turkey, France, Brazil, Greece, South Africa and Uganda. Numerous artists have created their works exclusively for SPARK and its main theme.

The galleries were highly satisfied with both the public interest and the sales. Exhibitors were able to report sold-out stands as early as the preview day. Younger items in particular attracted great interest from collectors. Institutional buyers from Europe have also used SPARK to expand their collections. This was an important confirmation of Vienna’s importance as an important art market, especially for galleries from overseas. This trend continued until the trade fair finale on Sunday afternoon, where numerous sales took place.

Special awards

Particularly outstanding trade fair contributions were presented with awards on Saturday. The “wienlive Award – The best emerging position in Vienna” was presented by editor-in-chief Dr. Helmut Schneider and the artistic directors awarded to Konstanze Stoiber, represented by the Galerie nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder. The “SPARK Award – The Best Stand Concept” went to the Ewa Opalka Gallery, which showed a solo presentation by Ewa Partum.

If you were unable to be there live on site or would like to “visit” the fair again in peace, you can use the digital offer SPARK Studio to obtain all relevant information about the exhibiting artists on a 3D tour.

The date for the next edition of the SPARK ART FAIR VIENNA has already been fixed. In 2025 the trade fair will take place from March 20th to 23rd in the MARX HALLE.
