Tafel Österreich and Ambassador Konstanze Breitebner would like to thank the catering industry

Vienna (OTS) The 16th winter fundraising campaign by Tafel Österreich together with the catering industry has come to a successful end: around 150 restaurants throughout Austria took part in the soup with meaning and made it possible for a total of 420,000 people affected by poverty to be fed. Actress Konstanze Breitebner, a “Soup with Sense” ambassador for almost 15 years, personally thanks the restaurateurs for their great commitment.

The cold season is a particular challenge for people in need: While many are faced with the decision of “heating or eating”, others have no roof over their heads at all. Tafel Österreich therefore launched the “Soup with Meaning” winter fundraising campaign more than 15 years ago. Every year, catering establishments – from award-winning restaurants to small pubs – dedicate a soup on their menu to the campaign. For every portion sold, the restaurateurs donate one euro to the Tafelarbeit, which provides free food to people affected by poverty in collaboration with social institutions. This enables guests to do good with enjoyment.

Dedicated restaurateurs enable increased results

Around 150 restaurants across Austria took part in the last soup season (from November 2023 to February 2024). It is now clear: They sold a total of 42,000 “Soups with Meaning”, the proceeds of which will be used to make 420,000 soups for people affected by poverty. Despite high inflation and after the Corona years, in which donation income fell noticeably, Suppe mit Sinn was able to record a significant increase again. Guests and restaurateurs have therefore made a significant contribution to supporting people in need.

Actress Konstanze Breitebner, soup with Sinn ambassador for almost 15 years: “I would like to thank all the catering establishments who committed themselves to soup with meaning last winter. At the same time, I would like to express my anger that this action is still necessary. In one of the richest countries in the world, this is a disgrace. The aim must be to ensure that there are no longer any people affected by poverty who need this campaign. But until then: let’s support soup with meaning together!

In a video message, Breitebner thanks the participating restaurants in particular for their great commitment.

After the “soup with meaning” is before the “soup with meaning”

One thing is certain: soup with meaning is coming back. On November 1, 2024, the winter fundraising campaign begins its 17th season. Interested restaurateurs can find all the information about participating on suppemitsinn.at.
