The expert emphasized that the automobile market of Azerbaijan has its own characteristics:
“The market is mainly active during seasonal periods. This is the beginning of autumn and summer. Usually the activity is after May 15. We are currently seeing activity in the market. This can be attributed to the fact that car dealers, as well as individuals, think that they can sell their cars at a higher price. But this is temporary. Because the market is active and it is not possible for prices to rise or fall sharply at the will of a few people. The car market itself adjusts prices. After May 15, the price of used cars may increase by 3-5%.
During the past week, the world’s major car manufacturers announced that the price of cars will rise by around 3%. Manufacturers attribute this to the increase in the price of spare parts, the increase in the price of transportation services and the deficit of certain devices. Automotive manufacturers are currently experiencing a shortage of semiconductors. There is a price increase associated with this. This is not related to the economy of Azerbaijan.”
The expert noted that the 3% increase in the price of both new and used cars can push the price up even further:
“Because there is no balance here. In such a case, we can say that the price in the second-hand car market may rise a bit. Our advice to those who want to buy a car is to buy a new car if possible. It is necessary to buy a car that has an official service of its brand in Azerbaijan, so that in case of repair problems, they can turn to the dealer.
A car is no longer considered a luxury, but a means of transportation. It is gratifying that citizens also prefer environmentally friendly vehicles. Hybrid cars are very popular in Azerbaijan today. Electric cars are also becoming increasingly popular. Electric buses will also start operating in Baku. This will give impetus to the electrification of the automobile segment in Azerbaijan. We see that entrepreneurs are interested in installing electric charging stations across Azerbaijan. If by the end of last year there were about 40 charging points, this year this number will be about 100.”
