Sending Western troops to Ukraine would lead to direct military conflict between Russia and NATO. Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov announced this, commenting on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron.
On February 26, at the press conference held after the Paris conference dedicated to the support of Ukraine, Macron announced that the leaders of Western countries are discussing the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, but have not reached an agreement.
“In this case, it is necessary to talk about inevitability, not probability. That’s how we will evaluate it. And these countries should evaluate and account for themselves in the same way and ask whether it corresponds to their interests, and most importantly, to the interests of the citizens of their countries,” RIA Novosti quoted the press secretary of the Russian President as saying.
Peskov called the fact of discussing the possibility of “sending some troops from NATO countries to Ukraine” an important new element.
At the same time, according to Peskov, Moscow also noted the fact that there is no consensus in Europe on the issue of sending military personnel.
