Scientists Successfully Eliminate HIV from Body Cells with CRISPR Technology

LONDON – For scientist has made a significant step forward in the fight against HIV by eliminating the virus from infected cells using CRISPR gene editing technology.

This technology, which is like scissors at the molecular level, is capable of cutting DNA with high precision to inactivate or delete HIV-infected parts.

These preliminary findings, presented by a team of scientists from the University of Amsterdam at a medical conference, suggest that CRISPR could be a promising tool to fight HIV.

HIV expert Dr James Dixon from the University of Nottingham, emphasized that this research needs to continue to ensure the effectiveness and safety of CRISPR in HIV therapy.

“More research is needed to show the results of these cell tests can occur throughout the body for future therapies. “There will be more development needed before this can have an impact on those living with HIV,” said James, as reported by The Guardian.

However, the researchers emphasized that this research is still in its early stages and is not yet a permanent solution to HIV.

CRISPR has succeeded in eliminating HIV from infected cells in the laboratory. This research is still in the early stages (proof-of-concept) and has not been tested in humans.

More research is needed to confirm the effectiveness and safety of CRISPR in fighting HIV in the human body. Current HIV drugs only suppress the virus, not eliminate it.

Although there are still many obstacles to overcome, these findings provide new hope for HIV sufferers. CRISPR technology has the potential to become a powerful tool to completely eliminate HIV from the human body in the future.
