The government of Saudi Arabia has started issuing visas for Hajj pilgrims this year. The event started on Friday (March 1) and will continue until April 29. From May 9, pilgrims from different parts of the world will start going to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry has undertaken a program to provide the highest quality service to solve the crisis by taking into account the complaints about the accommodation of Hajids in the past.

It has been reported that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has already licensed 1,860 residential buildings in Makkah for the accommodation of Hajj pilgrims. In the upcoming Hajj season, these buildings can accommodate about 1.2 million pilgrims.

More license applications will be taken from building owners till May 8. It is believed that the number of residential buildings approved to accommodate pilgrims in Mecca this year will exceed 5,000.

Moreover, the Saudi authorities have announced new rules for this year’s Hajj season. From now on, Saudi Arabia’s holy places will not be allocated country-specific places as before, said the country’s Hajj Affairs Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah.

Earlier, the Saudi government ordered tourists and local residents to refrain from performing Hajj without permission this season. According to the country’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, if you perform Hajj without permission, you will have to pay a fine of 50 thousand Saudi Riyals, which is equal to about 15 lakh taka in Bangladeshi currency. Besides, the person or persons caught transporting unauthorized persons to Makkah will also be fined the same amount.

The ministry also said that expats who break the law will be jailed for six months first. After serving his sentence, he will be repatriated and banned from entering Saudi Arabia for the next 10 years. The main activities of the holy Hajj this year may take place on June 14, depending on the sighting of the moon. This year, 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 people from Bangladesh have a quota for Haj but 83 thousand 155 people have registered so far.
