At an event dedicated to the anniversary of the start of armed conflicts in Transnistria, the President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, stated that the start of negotiations on EU membership is an excellent opportunity to unite the two banks of the Dniester for a common prosperous future. “RIA Novosti” informs about it.
The Moldovan authorities laid flowers at the monument of the Sorrowful Mother in memory of those who died in the Transnistrian conflict. The event was attended by President Maya Sandu, as well as members of the government and parliament.
“Moldova is at a crossroads, the decision to start negotiations on EU membership is a historic opportunity for our country to unite us around a project that will lead to a peaceful and prosperous future for the people of both banks of the Dniester. The government is ready to make all efforts for the peaceful reunification of the country,” said Sandu.
He thanked the military and law enforcement officers who ensure peace and tranquility in Moldova.
