The country’s best archer Roman Sana has made many complaints against the country and the Bangladesh Archery Federation after voluntarily retiring from the national team.
Roman Sana has written to the federation saying that he will not play in the future after being dropped from the national team due to poor performance. After that, he gave one interview after another to the media about the reasons for his resignation. There he complained that the country did not give him anything. He will withdraw his decision and return to the national team if he gets the honor he deserves.
However, the federation claims that Roman’s return to the national team depends on his performance. Coach selects national team players by performance, not by face.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Archery Federation Kazi Rajeev Uddin Ahmed Chapal officially opened his mouth about Roman Sana on Saturday. Roman Sana responded to various allegations raised. What do you say about the accusation that you did not give anything to Roman Sana?
Chappal’s reply, ‘Comments on this are unnecessary. Because, you know what a federation like Arachri can offer to players. Our ‘nun ante panta furoy’. Still we tried. But let Roman take back what he said, and then we’ll see. Because, he did not maintain minimum etiquette. When I called him to speak, he should have come.’
When and where did you call Roman to speak? ‘I don’t remember the date. But I called him during a game in Tongi. I said, I am upstairs, you come. he didn’t come I heard later he didn’t even play ranked.’
Chappal also said, ‘Roman Sana complained that the country did not give him anything. He works in an organization like Bangladesh Ansar. Who gave him this job? He got a job because he played archery. I can say – who made him Archer? Is he a born archer? Or the Federation made him Archer? In Ansar we recommended him for promotion.’
Many complain that you can’t see Roman Sana. You like other players. In response to such allegations, the General Secretary of Archery Federation said, ‘Why can’t I see him? Who plays me here? Does my son play? Does my daughter play? I love Roman so much. Because, he is giving results. But it’s right, love has to be maintained.’
If Roman Sana wants to change his mind and return to the national team, what should he do? In response, Chapal said, ‘He has to enter after qualifying. Archery is not out of order. If he wants to play archery he has to score, he has to follow discipline. There is no alternative.’
What government, what country, from where Roman has been complaining that he did not get anything. What do you say about this? Chapal’s words, ‘What the Federation has not done for him! I went to Germany to get him to play in the last Asian Games to get the ban lifted. I went to Germany with dengue, just to arrange to play Roman. But we did not benefit from him in the Asian Games. He scored only 6. A Roman score of 8 would have given me bronze. I could have qualified for the Olympics in the team event.’
‘And he says he got nothing from Archery. That’s not right. He spent 55 lakh rupees and gave the building in Khulna. He did it by playing archery. Again says Archari did not give him anything. Playing archery has got a lot from different places. What Roman Sana has received, including my personal contribution, has cost him crores of rupees.’
You said in a media, Roman Sana is mentally ill. Is he really mentally ill? In response, Kazi Rajeev Uddin Chapal said, ‘He is being treated for mental illness for the last one and a half years. So I said. I didn’t say wrong. Am I wrong or why? I have proof. I do not speak without evidence.’
