Gent –

An ensemble of Ghent Roma musicians came to enhance Conner Rousseau’s listening tour on Thursday evening. A playful statement from the night mayor of Ghent Edmond Cocquyt.

Until just before the elections, Conner Rousseau will go on a listening tour through East Flanders. It is an important part of his campaign to get elected from the list pusher position and to make his political comeback a success. The second passage of the tour took place on Thursday evening at the Ghent Trefpunt, where Edmond Cocquyt had a surprise in store for the fifty attendees. After Rousseau’s presentation, the Jan Conka Ensemble appeared in the room: three Slovak Roma musicians from Ledeberg, who came to play the Internationale on violin and double bass.

“Of course Conner Rousseau was allowed to come and speak here. After his racist statements against the Roma, he deserves a second chance, just like everyone else. But we are also troublemakers and troublemakers and therefore wanted to make a statement,” explains the night mayor of Ghent. Rousseau could laugh about it. He was also informed in advance by Trefpunt about the surprise performance. (fem)
