Record 50 billion dollars in trade between Russia and India

Trade exchange between Russia and India will exceed the historical maximum of $50 billion in 2023 despite the difficult international situation and the sanctions against Moscow for the war in Ukraine, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov declared today.

“There is no doubt that the Russian-Indian trade exchange will exceed $50 billion by the end of the year and will establish a new historical maximum,” declared the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade after a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Manturov recalled, as reported by the Russian Government in a statement, that “in recent years, despite the challenges faced by our countries, trade relations have developed rapidly.”

During the meeting, both ministers discussed current issues of trade cooperation, investments, in the financial and banking fields, transportation and logistics, as well as food security.

Industrial cooperation

“Special attention was devoted to the promotion of prioritized industrial cooperation projects,” the Russian Government indicated in its statement.

The head of Indian diplomacy arrived in Russia this Monday on a visit that will last until December 29 and in which he plans to meet on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both ministers will discuss the situation in Ukraine, Afghanistan and the Middle East, as well as cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the G20.

They will also discuss the priorities of the Russian presidency in the BRICS group, to which new countries will join starting in January. With EFE
