Rama: The Beleri case is a matter of justice – Learn to respect justice in Greece

Lessons of justice for the Greeks were delivered by the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, from the panel of the 585th session of the European Economic and Social Committee of the Commission for the candidate members of the European Union, regarding the case of Freddy Beleris.

After a question he received in relation to the Greek reactions to the imprisonment of the elected mayor of Himaras, the Albanian prime minister noted that “the representative of Greece is making it seem as if Albania is Siberia and that someone in Siberia is being held hostage by a ruthless bloodthirsty regime.” .

And he added that “simply because he is a Greek citizen, this should be a reason to sound an alarm to the world, that Albania is not Albania but Siberia”.

“I will answer very simply. The way you see it is completely delusional, it has nothing to do with reality. If there was some truth in all this, do you think this city would be silent and the European Commission, the European Council, any other member state would not have said a word?”, he asked.

“Learn to respect justice in your country”

Edi Rama reiterated that “it is a matter of justice in a sovereign country, where justice reform is the one for which the European Union praises us the most. And in the end, no one in Albania is above the law, whether you are rich or poor, whether you are a politician or an ordinary citizen, whether you are a Greek citizen or not,” he argued.

In fact, he emphasized that “there is no reason to bring all this Balkan drama and trauma to Brussels, because it sounds like something very far from what makes Europe what it really is”.

“I guarantee my Greek friend and any other Greek who thinks this way that things are not like that, that it is a matter of justice and justice will answer in the end,” he declared institutionally at the beginning, only to “wag the finger” afterwards: “Learn to respect justice in your country and in every country of the European Union”.
