Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded an independent investigation after former acting Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwarul Haq Kakar and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif. According to The Express Tribune report, there was a heated argument between Abbasi. According to the report, a PTI spokesperson said that the heated exchange between the two leaders served as an insight into its alleged theft of election malpractices to expose it.
Following the exchange of words between Kakar and Abbasi, PTI demanded a judicial commission to hold accountable those involved in the wheat import scheme and election manipulation. The spokesperson demanded a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the alleged manipulation of election results and creation of Form-47. PTI’s statement comes after reports of a tense confrontation between Kakkar and Abbasi. During the heated exchange, Kakar reportedly issued a warning, saying that disclosing certain information about Form-47 would give the party no place to hide, The Express Tribune reported.
The tension between the two leaders over the wheat scam broke out during a meeting at a private hotel, The Express Tribune reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Abbasi faced criticism for reportedly blaming Kakkar’s tenure as acting Prime Minister of Pakistan for the wheat scam during a television interview. In its statement, PTI criticized Kakkar’s alleged intimidation tactics, especially considering his constitutional obligation to ensure fair and transparent elections. Considering the seriousness of the allegations between the two leaders, Imran Khan’s party demanded a transparent investigation into the matter. The PTI spokesperson stressed the need for accountability and asserted that those accused of election manipulation and mismanagement were resorting to blame-shifting rather than admitting their mistakes, The Express Tribune reported. The spokesperson stressed the consequences of alleged mismanagement under the Kakkar-led government, especially the wheat crisis, which has affected farmers and led to expensive wheat imports. Imran Khan’s party criticized the federal government’s handling of the wheat import probe, terming it a ‘suspicious incident’ of shielding wrongdoers.
On 2 May, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) released a white paper on alleged rigging in the 8 February general elections and demanded the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the “snatching of 180 seats”, Geo News reported. of. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said, “We won 180 seats in the (February 8) elections. Our seats were given to other parties through Form 47.” The PTI chief stressed that he has filed a petition in the apex court against the alleged rigging. “But the petition has not yet been scheduled for hearing,” lamented Gohar. According to Geo News report, Barrister Gohar said, “We have issued a 300-page white paper to bring it to people’s attention. This is how their mandate was stolen.” Notably, in the recent general elections, PTI-backed independent candidates won the most National Assembly seats, followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
However later, the PML-N formed a coalition government at the center with the support of other parties including the PPP and later became the single largest party in the lower house of parliament after the allocation of reserved seats. Highlighting the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to declare the party’s intra-party elections illegal, the PTI chief said his party was forced to contest the general elections without its iconic ‘bat’ election symbol. “Our victory was converted into defeat by (manipulating) the election results in Form 47,” he said. Furthermore, Gohar stressed that the white paper is based on reports from international organisations, foreign media and newspapers. He called for pursuing electoral reforms to end election rigging once and for all. (ANI)
