By a decision signed by the Regional Governor of Epirus, Mr. Alexandros Kahrimanis, fishing for fish (except trout) and all aquatic organisms, with any fishing gear and gear, is prohibited, in order to protect reproduction, in all rivers, tributaries and their sources and in all aquatic ecosystems of inland waters of Epirus from 1 May to 31 May 2024.
Especially for the Artificial Lake of Pigon Aoou (due to the lower temperatures that prevail in the lake and affect the breeding season of fish), we prohibit the fishing of fish and all aquatic organisms, with any fishing gear and gear from May 15 to June 15, 2024.
Violators of this decision are punished in accordance with the applicable provisions (Articles 11 and 17 of Law 420/1970 as replaced by Article 9 of Law 2040/1992). Specifically, administrative penalties and criminal sanctions are imposed for violations of fishing regulations or decisions, such as the imposition of a fine, withdrawal of a fishing license, confiscation and sale of illegally caught products, confiscation and sale or destruction (as the case may be) of fishing gear and devices.
Authorities responsible for the observance of this decision are the Police Authorities, Forestry Offices and all Investigative Authorities.
