Tobruk, November 18, 2023 (Libyan News) – The Libyan Sailing Championship competitions in the kiteboarding category were concluded in the city of Tobruk this Saturday evening, under the supervision of the Libyan Sailing and Marine Sports Federation, and hosted by Al-Manara Marine Club in Tobruk.

The championship competitions continued over three days, with the participation of athletes representing the cities of: Tripoli, Benghazi, Zuwara, and Al-Khoms.

The Vice President of the Sub-Federation for Swimming and Diving in Tobruk – Head of the Training Committee at Al-Manara Marine Club, Abdel Salam Khamis Bouagwili – said in an exclusive statement to the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa – that the tournament, which was held for the first time in Libya, was concluded by hosting the Al-Manara Marine Club in Tobruk, with the participation of “9” athletes. From the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, Zuwara, and Al-Khoms.

He added that the results of the tournament were as follows: Youssef Al-Walid, the youngest contestant, ranked first from the Libyan Yacht Club, and then in second place were Hafez Al-Babaa from the Makhlouf Club, and Ahmed bin Shaaban from the Libyan Yacht Club, and finally in third place were Youssef Al-Babaa from the Makhlouf Club. Makhlouf Club.

He pointed out that the championship competitions started on Thursday, and Friday was a rest for the athletes, noting the participation of the youngest competitor in the championship from the city of Tripoli, who is 14 years old, and may obtain first place in the championship.

He noted the efforts of all parties that contributed to the success of the tournament and its display of a more than wonderful level.

For his part, Vice President of the Libyan Sailing and Marine Sports Federation, Ahmed Amsalam, said that the championship witnessed strong and fair competition among the nine athletes since its first day, even though it was being held for the first time in Libya.

Amsalem added that the Game Federation is striving to spread this game and support it to hold similar tournaments in all Libyan cities.

He pointed out that following the election of Abdel Moneim bin Harez as president of the Libyan Sailing and Marine Sports Federation, he succeeded in holding several sailing championships, including this distinguished championship that concluded in Tobruk. (Al-Anbaa Al-Libya – Tobruk) MB/RT
