PPP may join the government in the second phase – 2024-02-15 18:42:58

After many dramas, Bilwal Bhutto Zardari’s PPP has announced an alliance with PML-N. But the party said that they will not join the Shahbaz Sharif-led government. However, internal sources say that PPP will join the central cabinet in the second phase if not in the first phase.

Bilawal said in a press conference after the meeting of the central executive committee of PPP last Tuesday (February 13), that PPP will support the prime ministerial candidate to ensure the formation of a new government and restoration of political stability in Pakistan.

He said, PPP has decided that we ourselves will not join the central government. We are not interested in taking up ministry in such a setup. We do not want to see political chaos in the country.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari announced the formation of a coalition government with six parties in a press conference on Tuesday.

Soon after the press conference, PML-N Information Secretary Maryam Aurangzeb announced on social media platform X that party supremo Nawaz Sharif has nominated Shahbaz Sharif for the post of Prime Minister and Maryam Nawaz for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab.

Before announcing Shahbaz’s nomination for the post of prime minister, the PML-N president told allies that he had been nominated for the coveted post and would make the decision public only if allies agreed to vote for him in the National Assembly.

According to sources, the leaders of allied parties have assured Shahbaz that they will vote for him in the prime ministerial election.

Now the partners of the upcoming coalition government will form their respective committees to decide on inclusion in the Union Cabinet.
According to inside sources, PPP will not be part of this cabinet in the first phase. But the party may join the cabinet in the second phase.
