The appeal trial of Nguyen Phuong Hang’s accomplices will open tomorrow, however, before the trial date, the three defendants applied for a postponement.
According to plan, tomorrow (March 11), the High People’s Court in Ho Chi Minh City will open an appeal trial in the case involving Nguyen Phuong Hang (53 years old, General Director of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company) and 4 accomplices due to insulting personal honor.
The defendants (except Nguyen Phuong Hang, who did not appeal) were brought to trial on charges of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the state, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
The trial was opened due to the appeal of the defendants Dang Anh Quan (43 years old, former lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Huynh Cong Tan, Nguyen Thi Mai Nhi, Le Thi Thu Ha (both employees of Ms. Hang) and appeals from people with related rights and obligations.
However, the appeal court will be postponed due to the three defendants Nhi, Tan, and Ha applying for postponement.

In the first instance judgment of the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City announced on September 21, 2023, defendants Nhi, Ha, and Tan were each sentenced to 18 months in prison; Defendant Quan was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison; Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang, as the mastermind, was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
All five defendants were convicted of the crime of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
Currently, Nguyen Phuong Hang is serving a 3-year prison sentence.
According to the content of the case, from September 2021 to February 2022, Tran Van Sy used the YouTube account “Lawyer Tran Van Sy”; Dang Thi Han Ni uses the YouTube and Facebook accounts “Journalist Han Ni” to post articles, organize many recording sessions to broadcast on cyberspace, and state fabricated content, knowing clearly that the information is untrue or Unverified information that seriously offends personal reputation and honor.
These two people also posted information on the cyberspace about personal secrets, family secrets and private life of Mr. Huynh Uy Dung (61 years old, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company) and Nguyen Phuong Hang (61 years old, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company) and Nguyen Phuong Hang (61 years old, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company). General Director of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company) violated the law, affecting Dai Nam Joint Stock Company and Hang Huu Charity Fund.
Therefore, Nguyen Phuong Hang filed a complaint and sent it to the authorities for resolution according to their authority.
As a result of the investigation, Ms. Dang Thi Han Ni used her Facebook account and YouTube account named “Journalist Han Ni” to broadcast a recording titled “Does Ms. Hang have the legal right to squat?”.
According to the conclusion, Ms. Dang Thi Han Ni posted information on personal secrets, family secrets and private life in cyberspace contrary to the provisions of law, violating point d, clause 1, article 17 of the Security Law. network.
At the investigation agency, Han Ni admitted that the reason for the statements related to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was because Ms. Hang had insulting words about Han Ni when speaking live online on September 3. /2021.
