What made you charm each other?

Petr: “Šárka has a beautiful figure, which is what I need, and she also enchanted me with her big clear eyes, character and sense of humor. That’s awesome.”

Šárka: “We can make each other laugh terribly, we have the same type of humor, which is sometimes a bit silly, but we know exactly.”

Do you also care about your figure, Šárko?

Šárka: “At first glance, I don’t notice her, but I appreciate that it suits Peter.”

You can be jealous all the more…

Petr: “When others also look at your counterpart with admiration, it makes them happy. And all the more so that you can say to yourself: A is mine.’

Šárka: “Healthy jealousy is fine in a relationship. We are also a little jealous of each other, but not in an extreme way, that would drive us crazy in our industry.”

Are you celebrating the first of May?

Petr: “The first of May seems beautiful to me, it’s also the way it warms up, everything is fragrant, one immediately has a greater taste for love and more energy than, for example, on Valentine’s Day.”

Šárka: “So we celebrate, but we don’t go to the parade.”

Petr: “And I was the one who led the May Day parade as a “Bolshevik”! I was happy that something was happening because at that time almost nothing was happening. I was also in pioneer, which annoyed me because I wanted to go for my certificate like a proper guy in a tie and they told me I had to wear a scarf. Since then I have finished pioneering.’

Do you also like to fit into a gala these days?

Petr: “I enjoy being elegant.”

You are also known to be a great gentleman, which is perhaps a bit tricky these days. Or am i wrong?

Petr: “You are not mistaken, emancipation somewhat denies the differences that exist between women and men. Men are simply physically stronger by nature, and the role in the relationship should correspond to that.”

Does this mean, for example, that Šárka controls the kitchen at your house?

Šárka: “We don’t have this specifically given again. Sometimes Péťa cooks, sometimes I do, other times we go to a restaurant for lunch.”

Petr: “But it is certainly true that Šárka cooks much more often. And she is also an excellent housekeeper. I can put my hand to work, but I only need to pamper myself once every two months, which is bad, so Šárka does most of the housework.”

Šárka: “Petr is very clever again. For the fact that he is a musician with delicate hands, he can chop firewood, wipe the entire cottage, knock down a shelf…”

Petr: “Or change the light bulb.” (smiles)

You have been together for over a year. Did you manage to go on vacation together yet?

Šárka: “It is very difficult to arrange our duties so that we both have time off, so now we have put together two dates on a shorter vacation with great difficulty.”

Petr: “I haven’t been to the sea for more than two years.”

Šárka: “Me for five years. But this fall we will hopefully go there together, it didn’t work out for us last year. We were only in the Czech Republic and at the cottage, and then in Italy in the mountains. Petr is an excellent skier.”

Petr: “I played football and tennis from the first grade, then I started going golfing. At the age of nine, I got my first golf club, which was made for me in a village near Kolín, because they were not available for purchase at that time. There were about 500 golfers, now there are about 80,000 of them. But I don’t really enjoy it anymore, as I play it for a long time and I know I won’t get anywhere. But it’s still a very enjoyable sport. A person walks, looks at the greenery, hears the birds singing.”

Does Šárka share these sports passions with you?

Šárka: “Sometimes we go for a bike ride, for a walk with the dog or play tennis together. I’ve never played it, so I’m learning it, I’m glad that Péťa has such patience with me. Thanks a lot to me, he strengthens his legs because he runs around the court and collects balls.’

In one of the interviews, you admitted that Petr is genuine – both on the heart and on the tongue. Do you ever mind his honesty?

Šárka: “Not at all, we can talk openly about anything.” It’s more sympathetic to me than if he had something on his mind and didn’t tell me.’

Are you arguing?

Petr: “Some disagreements are common in a relationship, but we don’t argue outright. I can easily roll my hams when Šárka is cleaning, and she doesn’t blame me.” (laughs)

Šárka: “Me too. Yesterday it was the exact opposite. Petr cleaned and mopped the entire upper floor, and I just washed the dishes.”

Has there been any mention of a wedding yet?

Šárka: “Like every other woman, I would like to get married, but would I impatiently wait for a proposal? Not that.”

Petr: “I would like to register as a partner. Does it even work for heterosexual couples? Homosexuals want marriage and I want registered partnership!’

Šárka: “You always have to have something extra.” (laughs)

Petr: “It would be original. I’ll probably do a campaign.”

Petř, you have a fourteen-year-old daughter, Šárka doesn’t have children yet and it can be assumed that she might want to. Can you imagine taking care of a baby?

Petr: “I can imagine it and we are not against it. But this is a matter of fate.’

You are both singers, is this also known at home?

Šárka: “It is! There was a time when a neighbor met us and said: Look, I like music, but I wouldn’t have to listen to it at one in the morning. (laughs) So we’re already taming ourselves.”

How would you rate Šárka as a singer, Petra?

Petr: “She is excellent. She has a very interesting velvety voice, in the depths she reminds me a little of Yvetta Simonová. As a singer, I value her immensely.”

And what would you say about Peter?

Šárka: “Petr is a great professional, whether he is acting or singing. I respect him.”

Petr: “But we both have our own domain. There are singers who sing practically anything, we each have our own genre that we are good at. For me, it’s like rock and roll, boogie-woogie…”

Šárka Vaňková and Petr Vondráček

You are a huge fan of Elvis Presley

Šárka: “I hope you have time for us until the evening, because Petr can talk about Elvis for hours.” (smiles)

What captivated you so much?

Petr: “I’ve loved him since childhood. As soon as I learned to play records at the age of two, I became crazy about it. He totally disarmed me with that hoarseness of his, I was constantly playing those songs and dancing to them.”

When did you first sing his songs in public?

Petr: “As a seven-year-old I performed accompanied by my father, who played the piano, and at ten I sang a duet with Karel Zich on his record. And now we have another concert with the band Lokomotiva at the Hybernia Theater on May 28 Hello from Hawaii, which is Elvis’ most famous concert from 1973. It is unique in that it was the first to be broadcast via satellite. It’s no big deal, we’re accompanied by a symphony orchestra that numbers almost 40 people, and I’m there like Elvis.”

Are you even disguised as him?

Petr: “I only have a nice shiny suit with a collar, otherwise I’m on my own. We want to remind viewers how wonderful it was back then. I sing his songs in the exact order they were in Hawaii back then.”

What do you and Elvis have in common besides your love of music?

Petr: “I love my mother, I am also a mother, but smaller. Unfortunately, he lost his mother very early, luckily I still have her.”

Šárka: “She is a mother in the best sense of the word. Péta is wonderful in that he is available to mom at any time. They are so nicely fixated on each other.”

Petr: “I have a wonderful mother. As one calls to the forest, so one hears from the forest… I think that is true in this case.”

Do you have musical talent from both parents?

“After dad. He showed me the first figures on the piano, and then I went, although I didn’t want to, to the ZUŠka. In my first year, I had a teacher, a terribly nervous old man, who almost broke my fingers. I hated it.’

Šárka, does Petr play the piano at home?

Šárka: “I listen to him when he practices.”

Petr: “So once a month.”

Peter and I talked about his Elvis. You, in turn, sing with Iveta Bartošová’s band. What made this singer win you over?

Šárka: “I grew up listening to her music, I always played it. I knew her songs by heart. As fate would have it, years ago I met Fredy Bittner, who was her last bandleader, who told me there was a tour planned that unfortunately didn’t happen, and offered to go with them. We had our premiere last year and now we have started a tour across the country. It’s a beautiful project called PS Ivetawho glorifies her.”

Do you have anything in common with Iveta?

Petr: “Good luck guys.” (laughs)

Šárka: “Perhaps fragility, because she was also such a sensitive, gentle soul.”

Which is not ideal for tough show business. You already knew it after SuperStarwhen not everyone liked you…

Šárka: “That’s why I also completely disappeared for four years. I was fed up with it all. I worked in cosmetics for a globally known brand, and the break helped me a lot.”

Why did you decide to come back?

Šárka: “I got an offer for a musical, it got out loud that I was back, that I was alive and I started working on my career again. Today I only do what I want and I don’t have to be of service to anyone.”

Šárka Vaňková sang at the concert as Iveta Bartošová and performed a kiss with Petr Vondráček.

You registered Šárka when she was in 2004 SuperStarwhere she won second place?

Petr: “At that time, I had already performed with the Lokomotiva band for six years on Miloslav Šimek’s show and Zuzana Bubílková I don’t dance with politicians, which at the time had three million viewers, so I was known and comfortable in show business. Everyone about SuperStar they spoke in superlatives, but I looked rather skeptical about it. It always seemed strange to me when an artist was evaluated by an »expert jury« in a competition. These types of shows were and are repugnant to me. Music is not about perfection and numbers, but about the heart. But I digress. I registered Šárka, many of my friends loved it. I thought she was cute, but she was still a child, but she was 16.”

Šárka: “I understand, more people despise these competitions. They are musicians with heart and soul who have built their place for a long time, and suddenly we came and took prime time.”

Petr: “However, with the passage of time, I think that I am not the target group, but if young people want to show off, then why not.”

You are both celebrating your »working« anniversary this year. Sárka 20 years since SuperStarPetr 30 years with the Lokomotiva band…

Petr: “Yes, but I was already popular in 1986, when I released my solo album, so I’m almost 40 years old.”

You used to be seen a lot on TV. Whether as an actor or in a series Very fragile relationships, or in the position of moderator of a successful program Guess who I am

Petr: “That was a phenomenon at the time, he won two TýTý awards. It was a ten-year wave where I was almost everywhere, especially on Prima. Then she came again Your face has a familiar voice on Nova. But now I don’t appear on TV anymore.”

And would you like to?

Petr: “I have never crammed into television and I will not cramm.” If the offer doesn’t come, it won’t come. If so, I would consider her, and if I was interested, I would certainly accept her.’

Šárka, isn’t acting on camera appealing to you? You’ve already tried it in the movie Panic is useless.

Šárka: “I prefer not to brag about it too much. However, I would like to try it, but I have no preparation. I would really like to go sing in Your face has a familiar voice or dance to StarDancethat would be fun for me.”

Do you dance together?

Šárka: “When there is live music playing somewhere, we really like it. And we can dance together even just at home in the kitchen.”

Petr: “In my youth I paid for a good dancer, but over time my dance variations are no longer so watchable.”

Šárka: “They are still worth watching!” (smiles)
