First is the group of pedestrians, including the elderly, young people, couples in love, children running beside their parents, and even patients being treated at Hue Central Hospital. Walking along the Perfume River and immersing yourself in the beauty on both sides of the river is like a spiritual medicine to help them cope with illness. Next to the walking group is the jogging group, this group wears neat clothes, shoes, socks, wears headphones and tries to run to complete the goals they set.

I’m also part of the running group, but my running group is very strange. Every time I run for a while and see the beautiful sunset on the Perfume River, I find myself a corner, sit back and enjoy this unique beauty. In addition to large groups of people participating in activities such as walking or jogging, there are also small groups participating in group activities, such as badminton, skateboarding, gym training, kite flying, aerobics, etc. … All create a unique, unique and beautiful culture on the Perfume River in Hue.

When the sun has set, darkness covers the Perfume River, it seems that the hustle and bustle of the day has gradually subsided with the fall of night. On dragon boats floating slowly in the middle of the Perfume River, Hue folk songs were resounded and the Hue singing night also began.

In 2018, the ironwood bridge extending the walking street between Truong Tien bridge and Phu Xuan bridge was completed. This bridge located on the Perfume River is an architectural work that symbolizes the friendship between Vietnam and Korea, and now the ironwood bridge is a famous symbol when referring to the Perfume River. This is a favorite place for young people as well as tourists. Walking on the ironwood bridge at night, you can see each dragon boat floating slowly, filled with Hue folk songs and see the beauty over time of the majestic Truong Tien Bridge spanning the Perfume River.

For the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province, the Huong River is like an inseparable part of this place. Huong River provides many natural resources for the province’s basic economic sectors, such as: fresh water for agriculture, industry and daily life, minerals for mining, fishing and seafood processing industries. assets and especially the tourism benefits that the Huong River brings.

However, currently, the water environment of the Huong River is deteriorating, some sections of the river are heavily polluted. The main cause is household waste from residents and waste from factories around the basin.

Huong River brings extremely great tourism potential. To develop the economy and attract tourists, in my opinion, we should promote activities, sports, and entertainment on the Huong River such as; Kayaking, traditional boat racing, water volleyball,… turn it into traditional activities and annual festivals. The province should also learn from localities with strong river tourism activities and create new activities to attract tourists.

Besides innovation, I hope the province will promote environmental protection programs and immediately intervene in cases that are intentionally polluting and destroying the water environment in this river. Local authorities should regularly propagate and educate about environmental pollution in areas surrounding residents’ residences and especially limit waste discharge into the Huong River area.

Although I have only been in Hue for nearly 2 years, I really love this place and have special affection for the Perfume River. During times of sadness, happiness, ups and downs in a foreign country, people just quietly go to the riverbank to immerse themselves in thoughts. The Perfume River is still by my side, present as a companion to encourage each other to overcome difficulties in life, and the Perfume River will always be my priority destination. I hope the lives of people on both sides of the Perfume River will increasingly develop, while still protecting and keeping the beauty of the river intact as its value from the beginning.
