Palestinian Minister: Morocco takes care of Jerusalem

Ashraf Al-Aawar, Minister of Jerusalem Affairs in the Palestinian government, confirmed that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, is one of the Arab and Islamic countries most interested and concerned with Jerusalem affairs.

The Palestinian official, during his meeting yesterday, Monday, with the Kingdom’s ambassador to Ramallah, Abdel Rahim Meziane, praised the Moroccan role in protecting the Islamic and Arab monuments of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and supporting the steadfastness of its residents, stressing the central role played by the Al-Quds Committee, headed by King Mohammed VI, in protecting the Holy City from policies Judaization.

In this regard, Ashraf Al-Awar praised the great work of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in strengthening the steadfastness of Jerusalemites and helping them. As a resident of the city of Jerusalem, he expressed how proud the residents of Jerusalem are and how satisfied they are with the services provided to them by the agency.

He highlighted the appreciation held by the Palestinian ministers who successively headed the sector in charge of Jerusalem affairs to the Kingdom, expressing his aspiration to establish partnerships and twinnings between the city of Jerusalem and Moroccan cities, and to prepare joint programs aimed at benefiting from the Moroccan experience in the field of preserving the Arab and Islamic heritage of the Holy City, as well as examining the possibility of Develop joint plans to enable Jerusalemite families to withstand the ongoing Judaization plans.

The Minister of Jerusalem Affairs in the Palestinian government called for holding joint working meetings to discuss bilateral cooperation projects between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Palestine regarding Jerusalem, especially those related to supporting the development field of the Holy City.

He pointed out the importance of developing cooperation and coordination mechanisms with the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, allowing the ministry’s programs to be implemented to defend the legal and historical identity of the city of Jerusalem and support the steadfastness of its people.

For his part, Abdel Rahim Meziane, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Ramallah, confirmed that this meeting falls within the framework of the special care that the Kingdom of Morocco gives to the Palestinian issue in general and to the Jerusalem issue in particular, noting the appreciation that the Palestinians have for the Kingdom under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, And the continuous achievements achieved by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency under the direct guidance of the King of Morocco.

The Moroccan ambassador also highlighted the great importance that King Mohammed VI attaches to the Holy City and the efforts he is making to preserve the historical and legal status of the Holy City and support the steadfastness of Jerusalemites, stressing that the Moroccan king places the Palestinian issue on the same level as the Moroccan Sahara issue, which enjoys a comprehensive national consensus.

In this context, Meziane recalled the multiple programs and projects implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in the fields of health, education, construction and culture, considering that the Agency is the most active and present Arab and Islamic institution in the Holy City over the past 25 years, citing the recent operation that King Mohammed VI ordered to be implemented in the Gaza Strip. And Jerusalem, which included significant medical services at both the Red Crescent Hospital and Al-Maqasid Hospital in Jerusalem, and the distribution of 1,000 meals and Ramadan Iftar tables, including visitors to Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last month of Ramadan.

The Moroccan diplomat stressed the Kingdom’s openness to all initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs in order to serve the residents of Jerusalem, and its readiness for mutual cooperation and coordination of efforts to strengthen the steadfastness of Jerusalemites.
