The declaration of an Open International Tender, through a Concession Agreement, for the project of Construction, Maintenance and Operation of the High Technology and Research Park, was approved by a majority at its meeting today by the Regional Committee of the Region of Epirus.

This is an option that aims to speed up the construction procedures of the project, it is of a pilot nature and if the effort is successful, its facilities will be quickly created to house the waiting high-tech companies, without any financial burden on the Region, but also in general of the State.

The project is to be built with the existing design and building permit issued by the Region of Epirus, while the expected revenue during the concession, according to the financial model of the project, is estimated at approximately 70 million euros, as well as the value of the contract (Law 4413/2016).

According to the announcement of the Open Public Tender, the contract expressly provides that the Concessionaire will fully undertake the financing of the construction project, while during the period of operation of the Park he will have full responsibility for its administration, maintenance and smooth operation.

In exchange for the concession of the space, serving the public benefit nature of the project, undertakes the commitment to make available the fully equipped office spaces – of a building with an area of ​​1700 m2 exclusively for lease to start-ups (which will be selected through a public challenge) and in the Region of Epirus, with a nominal rent of 1 euro/per square meter per year. Also to provide incubator services free of charge and to organize educational and cultural events.

The declaration was prepared by the Services of the Region of Epirus and the details were analyzed by the Head of the Directorate of Transparency and Electronic Government, Mr. Evangelos Sakkas.

In his statement, the Regional Governor, Mr. Alexandros Kahrimanis, underlined that the Region’s requirement and the Government’s commitment for funding of 15 million euros are still valid, which will be used either in the second phase – if the specific tender is not successful, or for another project of the Region.
