Has Armenia withdrawn its claims against Azerbaijan? – 2024-06-17 13:59:28

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has denied reports that any agreement has been reached regarding the withdrawal of international lawsuits against Azerbaijan.

Publika.az reports that Mirzoyan said this at the meeting of the parliament’s foreign relations commission.

Opposition MP Kristine Vardanyan asked that if the authorities are talking about the possibility of withdrawing their claims against Baku, why was it necessary to ratify the Rome Statute and spoil relations with the Russian Federation?

“You are making false statements. There is no agreement to withdraw the allegations. Yes, of course, many options are being discussed with the understanding that this may be part of the general situation, the environment. If one side takes a step, the other side will take a second step,” – said Mirzoyan.

He added that any actions would be coordinated and openly discussed in the context of common diplomatic efforts.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated some time ago that when the Yerevan peace agreement is actually ready, they can withdraw their international claims against Baku on the basis of reciprocity.
