The head of UNRWA at a press conference in Geneva, described the battle against time
The provision of food and other humanitarian supplies to Gauze improved in April but far from enough to reverse the trend faminesaid the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.
“It is true that there are more supplies coming in during the month of April but this is still far from enough to reverse the negative trend” said UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini at a press conference in Geneva, describing the battle against time to reverse hunger and famine.
He said that only a few countries continue to block their funds to UNRWA following Israel’s accusations that UNRWA staff members took part in the October 7 attacks by Hamas. The agency has also raised $115 million in private equity, according to Lazzarini.
