North Korea repudiates Japan’s decision to dump Fukushima water into the ocean

“Japan must immediately reverse its decision to dangerously dump water contaminated with nuclear material, which seriously threatens the life, safety and future of humanity. “Japan will take full responsibility for the catastrophic consequences of its lack of ethics,” North Korea’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a press release on Thursday.

The spokesperson noted that despite strong condemnation from the international community, Japan has made a decision that is “an unethical act that destroys the geoecological environment and endangers the existence of humanity.” The statement emphasizes that, although Tokyo assures that the spilled water has been purified and is not dangerous, it has been scientifically proven that this is not the case and that it continues to contain large quantities of extremely dangerous radioactive nuclides, such as cesium, strontium, ruthenium or tritium.

Within a few years, these waters will enter the seas around the world and cause great damage to humanity, the statement continues. The spokesperson also stressed that Japan, the only country that has suffered a nuclear attack, cannot fail to realize the consequences of this decision. However, the country “does not hesitate to impose a nuclear catastrophe on humanity, for its own selfish purposes.” At the same time, he continues to accuse neighboring countries of a “nuclear threat” and advocates a denuclearized world, which indicates his double stance.

Japan began dumping more than a million tons of radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean this Thursday. Neighboring countries condemn the decision, and their inhabitants, as well as those of Japan itself, have come out to protest. With RT
