In an interview, Stelios Kouloglou spoke about the crisis that has been unfolding in SYRIZA in the last few days, before the start of the conference. At the beginning, the independent SYRIZA MEP stated that “The end of SYRIZA is inevitable, it has already been done with the election of Mr. Kasselakis.”

Speaking on the First Program of Hellenic Radio 91.6 and 105.8, he said that “his election was actually a group suicide. You know, this happens in organizations or closed systems, generally in religious groups that wait for something to happen, an event that will take them to heaven, and when it doesn’t come, they kill themselves en masse.”

“Whoever said that children are not doing well, they stoned him”

Then he added that “There are such incidents. SYRIZA, before the elections of 23 had believed that it would win the elections. The party collectively believed it. And anyone who said that children are not doing well, like me for example, they stoned him, they told him what you are saying”.

He went on to say that “Kasselakis is not the cause of this deep crisis but the symptom.” He added that “He could be a communicator in a company that sells chocolates”

“SYRIZA was in a deep crisis before the election of Kasselakis”

As characteristically noted afterwards, Mr. Stelios Kouloglou “SYRIZA was in a deep crisis before the election of Kasselakis. Kasselakis is not the cause of this deep crisis but the symptom. Of course, it deepened because man could not and cannot manage a party that he does not know, does not know politics and runs from here and there.

He is photogenic, he is intelligent, he is communicative, I would say better but beyond that he could be a communicator in a company that sells chocolates. This has nothing to do with the official opposition, and since it has nothing to do with it, we have a crisis. This crisis will continue because as a character Mr. Kasselakis is not going to give up. He’s not going to say I’m leaving.”

Finally, to the journalist’s question if after all that is happening in SYRIZA, the conference will finally take place, Mr. Kouloglou answers “everything is played. I guess there will be some kind of compromise to make the conference happen. Because then, in essence, it will be an admission that we are closing the shop if the conference does not take place. So there will be a genre I think, but you never know with this situation where it’s going to end up.”
