The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague does not have jurisdiction over the state of Israel, but the potential decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials and military personnel was a scandal of historic proportions. As “RIA Novosti” informs, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this.

In a special video message to the nation, Netanyahu stressed that nothing in the world, including a possible decision by the ICC, will change Israel’s determination to achieve the goals of the Gaza war and carry out the operation in Rafah on the border with Egypt.

“There are many forces trying to prevent us from doing this. They were recently joined by another power, the International Criminal Court in The Hague. This court has no jurisdiction over the State of Israel. “The possibility of issuing warrants against Israeli army commanders and heads of state is a scandal of historic proportions,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Netanyahu, the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli officials and soldiers would be the first time a democratic country fighting for its existence under all norms of international law has been accused of war crimes.

“Israel expects that the leaders of the free world will resolutely oppose this scandalous step, which will harm the self-defense not only of the State of Israel, but also of all the democratic countries of the world. Israel expects these leaders to use all their influence and all the means at their disposal to prevent this dangerous step, which will represent moral and historical bankruptcy,” the head of the Israeli government emphasized.
