NCA students build solar boat and electric heavy bike

Fatima Iqbal, a student of National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore, has developed a modern and luxury watercraft (boat), Sahir Rafiq has developed an electric heavy bike and Zainul Abedin has developed a prototype of a hybrid motorcycle.

These young students are studying product design at NCA. Like other students, they have presented their prepared samples for exhibition.

Fatima Iqbal, a student who designed a modern luxury boat, while talking to Independent Urdu said, “I have designed a model of a boat that is no less than any beautiful and modern watercraft used for tourism in the world.” In addition to luxury, solar power, GPS system, AVN system and essential safety features have been used with modern expertise.

Fatima said that in this boat, many people can go into deep water for fun at the same time. The boat includes an AVN system for entertainment, a freezer for catching and storing fish, and comfortable seating for 6 people. It also has cabin bedrooms for two people to rest, while the washroom and There is also an emergency exit facility.

According to Fatima: ‘It took six months to make the model of this boat and it cost 7 million rupees.’

A student named Sahar Rafiq while talking to Independent Urdu said that there was no electric cruiser bike in Pakistan. The difference in my bike is that it uses a mid-drive motor instead of a hub motor.’

According to Sahar, ‘Its top speed is 170 kilometers per hour. The top speed can be up to three hundred kilometers, but I have kept it low.’

According to the student, ‘Its range i.e. average comes up to 160 kilometers from a single battery charge. It has hydraulic brakes. A fuel tank has also been built for precautionary use and a total cost of five lakh rupees has been spent on it.

Zainul Abedin, who designed the prototype of the hybrid bike, said, ‘In my bike, the engine and motor work in what can be called a dual-fuel system. It has a 1000 watt motor which is powered by a charging battery. which can run up to 50 km after charging for three hours. The engine is 70cc which can also run on petrol. Disc brakes and advanced glass, lights are used and fiber is used in its manufacture to keep the weight down. It is fitted with a computerized meter.’

The National College of Arts’ Bachelors and MA Visual Art Degree Show 2023 began on Friday, with students from the departments of Fine Art, Visual Communication Design, Textile Design, Ceramics Design, Product Design, Architecture, Film and Television, Musicology showcasing their work. The exhibition continues.
