Pakistan’s general election is still counting votes. Independent candidates supported by the jailed Imran Khan’s party are ahead in the private results so far. However, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif is preparing for a victory speech. The winning independent candidates are being contacted, his party said. PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz wrote on social media that a section of the media deliberately created a false situation last night. PML-N is going to be the single largest party in Center and Punjab.

On the other hand, PML-N Ishaq Dar said that the independent candidates who won the elections are in touch with the party. They will join any party within the next 72 hours following the constitution.
He said, we cannot force anyone to join the party. We are contacting those who are interested.
Pakistan’s former finance minister said that independents will lose reserved seats if they don’t join a party.
Dar said Nawaz Sharif has said that his party will work with other parties even if it gets majority. We are optimistic about the formation of government at the Center and Punjab. If someone else forms the government, we will accept it.
As of last reported, private results for 176 of the 265 seats in the National Assembly have been declared. Out of this, Imran Khan-backed independents won 74 seats, Nawaz’s PML-N won 49 seats and Bilawal Bhutto’s PPP won 39 seats.
