NATO Called to Shoot Down Russian Missile from Poland

The call, which Moscow media described as a brazen suggestion, was made by Nico Lange, a former German defense official who is now a senior researcher at the Munich Security Conference.

Poland has been stockpiling weapons, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk even said that his country was in a “pre-war state” with Russia.

Lange, in an interview with daily Newssaid NATO allies should use anti-aircraft systems to shoot down Russian missiles in Ukraine from Polish territory.

“From now on, partners should use a variety of Patriot systems on our eastern border to shoot down all the Russian missiles and drones they have within range of Ukraine,” he said, referring to the alliance’s air defense systems in eastern Poland.

“This is fully covered by international law,” continued Lange, citing the example of Israel’s ally’s assistance in repelling Iran’s attack on April 14.

Lange, who served as chief of staff of the German Defense Ministry from 2019-2022, argued for the need for unconventional solutions as Western support for Ukraine required a change in strategy.

At the same time, in the long term, he called for increased production of air defense systems in Europe.

Earlier, Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), said Israel acted together with the US, UK, France and other countries in repelling Iran’s retaliatory attacks, intercepting 99% of the air targets fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC ).
