Armed insurgency is ongoing in various parts of Myanmar. The pro-democracy revolutionary government is supporting the anti-junta armed groups. The rebels have already captured several military bases and towns. Among them is Sunday, an important town on the border with Thailand.
The insurgency has become the biggest challenge to Myanmar’s junta since seizing power in 2021 by toppling an elected government.
The Thai Prime Minister says the current regime is beginning to lose some power. But even if they lose power, they have power, they have weapons. Maybe now is the time to start negotiating with them and reach an agreement.
Thailand has been working with Myanmar on several issues since Shreta came to power in August last year. The country is also providing relief to Myanmar under a humanitarian initiative.

Sretha said, Myanmar is very important to Thailand. He and Thai officials continue to hold talks with Myanmar’s various concerned groups and international partners, including China and the United States.
He said, if Myanmar is united, peaceful and prosperous, Thailand will benefit the most.
When asked about the situation in Myanmar, a spokesman for the Thai government, Chai Wacharong, said on Monday that Thailand will not take any side in international conflicts and the country’s policy is a peaceful solution to the conflict.
Sretha said he plans to hold a meeting on Tuesday with the cabinet, senior military and intelligence officials on Myanmar policy.
He says, I will have a meeting with five or six important people. Make sure we are all on the same page.
