More than 13 million Peruvians work informally

The head of the Ministry of Labor reported that awareness campaigns are being carried out so that they understand the importance of formalizing their work activity.

The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Daniel Maurate Romeroreported that the 95% of Peruvians workbut within that figure, approximately 13 million people are in the informal sector. In addition, there are another 6 million Peruvians considered “self-employed”, that is, they do not have bosses or employees.

Within the framework of Labor Daywhich was commemorated on May 1, the head of the MTPE highlighted the worrying situation of labor informality in the country.

Efforts to combat informality

Maurate Romero mentioned that his sector is working to obtain as much information about informal workers, with the aim of establish public policies based on the type of informalityconsidering income, type of work and locations.

Faced with this situation, the minister mentioned that among informal workers there are also influencerswho, although they bill well and can earn more than the minimum wage and even that of some professionals, have not formalized themselves.
