The movement of metro rail was stopped for about 40 minutes due to the kite being stuck on the electric line. This incident happened on Wednesday (14th) around noon.

On this day, I went to Mirpur-10 station at noon and did not see the metro rail coming for a long time. Talking to the staff in charge of the station, it is known that a train got stuck at Kazipara station in Agargaon around 1:00 am. Because of this, the metro rail movement was stopped.

Metrorail was overcrowded on the occasion of Spring and Valentine’s Day. As the train did not arrive there for a long time, the crowd increased. However, the security personnel did not allow the passengers to board the platform. And at this time, an announcement can be heard from the station requesting passengers to take alternative measures. Even those who bought single tickets, were being repeatedly announced to get their money back.

After about 40 minutes of delay, the train reached the station. Meanwhile, the security personnel brought a kite from the railway line. They said that the metro rail movement was stopped because of this kite.

According to station sources, it was initially believed that the overhead catenary system-OCS (overhead electric line) had gone to zero voltage due to the stalling of the kite.

However, calling the senior officials of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) to find out about this, no one was immediately available.

Several times before this, metro rail movement was stopped due to such problems. Last on February 4, metro rail services were stopped for almost 2 hours due to OCS problem.
