Petr Pavel appreciated that Macron came to Prague so soon after his visit to Paris. The Czech president then said that both have the same view of how the situation in Ukraine is developing.

“For us, the only way is to continue supporting Ukraine not only because we see it as right in principle, but also because we don’t want Russia to succeed with its vision of the world,” declared Pavel.

Macron then highlighted the Czech initiative to secure ammunition for Kyiv in countries outside the European Union. France will join it, and the ministers of both countries will discuss it further.

“Russia must not win this war and we will support the Ukrainian people and their army as long as necessary,” Macron said clearly during the press conference in Prague. The presence of troops in Ukraine was also addressed. Pavel said that he is not in favor of sending combat units, but about forms of assistance and “non-combat engagement”.
