Luque: they install a barrier over a stream after the death of two women swept away by rapids

LUQUE. The Municipality of Luque installed a security barrier in the area of ​​the Balderrama club, after two women drowned on April 24 after being swept away by the rapid. The measure seeks to prevent future accidents in the San Juan stream.

In the unfortunate event, Sara Benítez (48) and her daughter Nilda Luján Barrios Benítez (19) died, who in the early morning hours were swept away by the flow of water that empties into the bed of the aforementioned stream.

The municipal action follows the indictment of Mayor Carlos Echeverría for manslaughter and dangerous interventions in land traffic.

The indictment against the communal chief states that, according to the data collected, there are elements of suspicion that lead to the assumption that, at the time when the vehicle carrying the mother and daughter fell into the ditch, there would be deficiencies in the security system. vial; That is to say, no signage of danger warnings and protection facilities for pedestrians and vehicles and lack of effective protection barrier against rapids.
