Frankfurt, Deutschland (ots/PRNewswire) With an impressive installation, Kia has brought light into one of the darkest areas of Norway: an LED disk five meters in diameter, powered by the EV9 electric SUV, made the sun rise in a country where it rarely appears in winter shows. Kia realized this installation together with Void, a studio for experience-oriented design, and the creative agency Innocean. It demonstrates the power of the new Kia flagship’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, while highlighting the importance of sunlight, as a lack of light can have a negative impact on a person’s energy levels, mental health, immune system and sleep patterns .

  • The electric SUV can be used as a powerful power source thanks to its “Vehicle-to-Load” (V2L) function
  • Kia campaign simulates a sunrise with an LED disk with a diameter of five meters

“The EV9 is an exciting car not only when driving, but also when stationary, with innovative features such as bi-directional charging,” says David Hilbert, marketing director at Kia Europe. “This technology allows electric vehicles to play an even greater role in our lives, whether when camping, as a power source for a mobile office or even as part of the public power grid using vehicle-to-grid technology (V2G).

The light installation was set up at the Rampton campsite in a fjord 35 kilometers southwest of Oslo. The picturesque beach with the small island opposite was an ideal place to simulate a coastal sunrise. Fully illuminated, the temporary sun could be seen from several kilometers away. One battery charge of the EV9 was enough to drive from Oslo to Rampton, power the huge LED disc for 24 hours and then return to Oslo with enough power left in the “tank”. A video of the light installation can be seen here .

The EV9, which has already won multiple awards (including “Golden Steering Wheel 2023” in the “Family Cars” category and “German Luxury Car of the Year 2024”), combines the strengths of an SUV with state-of-the-art electric vehicle design and groundbreaking technologies. It is based on the E-GMP electric platform, offers sporty driving performance and a range of up to 563 kilometers*. Thanks to the 800-volt quick-charging technology, you can fill up with electricity for a range of up to 249 km within 15 minutes under ideal conditions.
