Migrant minor lives a ‘different’ Children’s Day

This year, there were no gifts for little Dariel on this Children’s Day like last year, when his father José gave him a tricycle, which he will never ride again. They have both been traveling from train to train for two months. They are migrants originally from Venezuela, who seek to reach the United States.

It was on March 1 that José began his long journey with his little boy, who was only two years old, leaving his wife and parents at home. His dream is to arrive in the North American country and then send money so that his wife can join them again.

Meanwhile, he will continue taking care of his little one, with whom he now travels at the top of the train hoppers, resisting the high temperatures, and covering himself from the intense rays of the sun with an old blanket that he conditioned as a tent for him and your son.

“Yes, she was scared, but I told her (her son’s mother) that she was stronger and that later she should go alone. On the first of next month we will complete two months (of the trip),” José said from the car, which He went up since Tuesday morning, hoping to leave Gómez Palacio and start his way again. And in New Jersey he hopes to reunite with his cousins, who have been anxiously awaiting them since they left their native Venezuela.

But the celebration of Children’s Day did not go entirely unnoticed by Dariel and the rest of the migrant children who were yesterday on board the train in front of the Santa Rosa neighborhood, since a group of Christians, in addition to food, brought gifts for the little ones.

To prevent the little ones from getting off or being left alone in the carriages, some toys were thrown at them, which their parents managed to catch and which were able to make them smile for a moment.
