A transparent television that blends in with your living room decor, like a science fiction screen? This is LG’s new invention, which will be released this year.
At CES 2024, the show that has become the showcase of global technological innovation, LG surprises by presenting not a prototype, but a new television model that will be ready for sale this year.
The OLED T is a transparent television that allows it to blend in with its surroundings, with different possibilities for images and works of art, reminiscent of televisions that become paintings when they are turned off.
However, it has a contrast filter which, by pressing a button, can move behind the screen, thus making it opaque, like a classic OLED screen. Be careful though, the quality is not that of a latest generation OLED screen, like the LG OLED G3. For example, the brightness is less good.
This is not a new technology, as it has already existed for several years and has already been presented at CES by Panasonic in 2016 and by LG itself in 2021. This year too, Samsung presents a transparent television, unfortunately pulling the rug out from under the feet. at the feet of LG, which announced its product as the world’s first transparent television.
The TV presented this year uses wireless transmission technology, already present on the LG OLED M3 and LG M4 models. External devices, such as an Internet box or games console, will connect to the Zero Connect box, independently of the television, with a range of 9 meters for sound and picture.
For the moment we don’t know if LG’s new product will be sold with its elegant metal structure. No information on the price either, but we already know that it will only be sold in 77 inch format. The exact date of the OLED T going on sale is still secret.
