Her Cyprus is visited by the general secretary of its Central Committee KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubashead of the party’s delegation, from today Thursday until March 31.
Dimitris Koutsoubas met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, with whom he exchanged views on the political developments in Greece and Cyprus, the Cypriot and Greek-Turkish, as well as for the developments in the wider region.
“In our meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, we expressed our solidarity with the struggling Cypriot people, for a single, independent, free homeland, for one state – not two states – with one sovereignty, one international personality, one citizenship, without foreign troops and bases, without occupying troops, with the people at home in their place. Because the Cyprus problem is a problem of invasion and occupation, and especially this year, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus tragedy”, noted the secretary of the KKE.
“Solidarity to the Cypriot people and to the people of Palestine”
As he said, “we exchanged views on the situation in Greece, as well as in Cyprus, on the problems faced by the Greek people in a difficult situation, where there are great rivalries, great contrasts, with huge economic problems for our people, in fact and inflation, with wars raging in our region, from the Ukraine to the Middle East.”
“We confirmed our solidarity as the KKE to the Cypriot people, but also to the neighboring peoples, to the people of Palestine who are brutally murdered by the state of Israel and to all the peoples of the region and Europe,” he added.
“Message of popular counterattack to the European elections”
Mr. Koutsoubas emphasized that, in the battle for the European elections, “the KKE will give all its strength to strengthen itself, for there to be greater cooperation, so that another path opens for our homeland, for the peoples, for Europe. Let’s send a message to all of Europe that there can be a popular counterattack and find a way out of the impasse experienced by the Greek people.”
It should be noted that the secretary of the KKE had consecutive meetings with the president of the Environmental Movement, George Perdikis, the president of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos and the president of DIPA, Mario Karoyan.
The political developments in Greece and Cyprus ahead of the upcoming European elections and the local elections to be held in Cyprus, as well as issues related to the Cyprus issue, were at the center of the discussions.
The contacts with the political parties of Cyprus continue tomorrow, Friday, with meetings with the president of the Cypriot Parliament and DISY, Annita Dimitriou, the president of EDEK, Marino Sizopoulos and the General Secretary of the AKEL Committee, Stefanos Stefanou.
On Sunday, Dimitris Koutsoubas will speak at a political gathering held by the Cyprus party organization of the KKE in Nicosia.
