“The bill does not mention parent 1, 2, 3, this will happen automatically” – KKE also requested a roll call vote

“Is it possible for the specific ND bill, supported by the other parties, to be so progressive and in favor of people’s rights, from a government that is currently launching a major attack against students who are fighting for their right to public and free education , to the right of farmers to survive and eat with cheap products, to the right to public and free Health by opening evening clinics, to the right to the 8-hour working day which has been abolished by the laws of Hatzidakis and others?” secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas, speaking in the Plenary Session of the Parliament on the debate on the bill on the marriage and childbearing of same-sex couples.

At the same time, he announced that the KKE will also submit a request for a roll call vote on the principle and on the articles and will vote against it on the principle.

How is it possible, he continued, “that such a bill, which you have designated as a landmark and dividing line between progressivism and conservation, is being brought forward by a government you say is divided between you by an abyss?”

The KKE positions itself in the bill, he said, based on the interest of children, the quintessence of its position is the protection of their rights. “This particular bill brings substantial changes to the legislation on procreation, adoption, the generalized commercialization and securing of parenting by same-sex couples,” he argued.

He added that the bill does not come to legally regulate the cohabitation of two homosexuals, but “here we are talking about adult relationships with children, an issue by definition that concerns society and goes beyond the individual desire of adults”, as, according to Dimitris Koutsoubas, “fuels the commercialization of procreation and procreation, whether in Greece or from another country, promotes commercial surrogacy for a same-sex male couple and medically assisted reproduction for a same-sex female couple.”

Noting that people with a homosexual sexual orientation have experienced in their social environment unacceptable behavior of humiliation and violence, he recalled that “the KKE has condemned such phenomena and has tabled specific proposals such as the tightening of penalties for the perpetrators of sexist homophobic attacks, proposals to protect every person from unacceptable discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity”.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas underlined that the real shield of protection for every person who experiences multiform violence is built every day in events of social life and that is why KKE and KNE take initiatives and condemn such phenomena. “It is necessary to cultivate respect, solidarity and collectiveness regardless of gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation,” he noted.

Dimitris Koutsoubas also referred to the attack on the KKE by political forces that accuse it of homophobia, stressing that they are deeply systemic and hostile, they systematically distort the positions of the KKE and thus the world does not know the positions and initiatives of the KKE.

He clarified that the clear position of the KKE against the civil marriage of same-sex couples has to do with the fact that “civil marriage automatically produces joint parental care and abolishes motherhood and fatherhood. No matter how much Mr. Mitsotakis is beaten that the bill does not mention parent 1, 2, 3, this will be done automatically”, he noted, also citing the paternity certificate approved by the EU and voted for by all parties, except the KKE.

In conclusion, he noted that the KKE will vote against the principle, will vote against certain articles and will vote in favor or “absent”, in some others that promote some modernizations concerning both same-sex and heterosexual couples, but in no case will it give an alibi of a false progressivism in the government as the other parties do.
