The Malagasy Karate Federation begins federal competitions with a big novelty: the Madagascar Cup, children’s and women’s. Scheduled to take place at the beginning of February, this meeting was postponed by a month, by the national body, in particular for March 1, 2 and 3 at the Ankorondrano Indoor Gymnasium. One month before the competition, preparation is in full swing at club level in all regional leagues. More than 450 karatekas are expected at these two competitions which concern chicks, pupils, juniors, junior girls and boys, and women in all categories. They will compete in kata and kumite. One stone kills two birds, this Madagascar Cup is a great first in the history of karate in Madagascar because usually it is always the seniors and the young people who are in the spotlight. It will be an opportunity for women to showcase their talent and commitment in the discipline. The competition will serve as a detection of athletes capable of strengthening the national team for international competitions this year. On another subject, the karateka members of the national team and those preselected will be in a group starting tomorrow in Antsirabe. The seniors begin their first grouping while it is a second grouping for the juniors and cadets. They will stay at the Ecara Akany Ampihaviana.
